Clay on its own only mops up surface oil. This one adds salicylic acid and fruit acids, so while the red and white kaolin draws sebum out, the acids are loosening the plug inside the pore. Ten to fifteen minutes is long enough to matter and short enough that skin doesn't end up tight — arnica and calendula sit underneath keeping the finish calm rather than stripped.
