This is the hydroquinone-free half of Vivier's brightening pair — where to start for mild discolouration, and where to move after a three-month course of Corrector 2. Alpha-arbutin and 4-butylresorcinol both slow pigment production, niacinamide keeps finished pigment from reaching the surface, and lactic acid clears what has already arrived there. In Vivier's 16-week study, every participant saw improvement in hyperpigmentation and in fine lines. It can feel drying at first; Vivier's own advice is to layer a moisturizer over it if that happens.
